C. Tolpo, Carolyn Tolpo Smith, Portrait Artist, Hawaii

Located in Honolulu, Hawaii, Carolyn Tolpo Smith enjoys working C.Tolpo Studio, marriage, motherhood and hails from a family of five Tolpo artists making fine art & crafts from studio/gallerys in Colorado, Arizona and Illinois as well.

As a student she received National Scholastic Gold Key Visual Arts Award and, by 1966, participated as a four-star Thespian, England/USA poetry exchange student and Illinois All-State musician (violin). She received her BFA degree from University of Hawaii and, in 1971, was awarded Drawings/USA Purchase Award. In education, she participated in the New York Artist-in-Schools Program for Elementary Schools and was listed in 1996-2002 Artists in Hawaii Guide. Since 1998 she has authored, The Artpart, monthly East Oahu Sun newspaper column exploring art and life connections.

C. Tolpo art specializes in custom paintings: family,executive and official portraiture as well as landscapes, moonscapes, seascapes and still life. Private and public commissions include the State of Hawaii, Women's Board of Missions, Hawaii State Judiciary, Bishiop Corporation, Sheraton Maui Hotels, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford, and others. C. Tolpo art appears across the USA and has been exhibited in San Francisco, Maui, Massachusetts, Honolulu and can be found in the permanent collection of the Minnesota Museum of American Art.
